NHA’s ‘ABHA’ Now Allows Users To Access Health Records
The National Health Authority (NHA) has upgraded its Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) mobile application and added the functionalities that will enable individuals to access their health records anytime and anywhere. The government has improved the app’s user interface and now makes it easy for users to track their health records.
Users need to update the existing ABHA mobile app, previously known as the NDHM health records app, to access the latest version of the app. ABHA’s latest version requires individuals to create an account with an ABHA address (username@abdm), an easy-to-remember username that can be linked with 14 digits randomly generated ABHA number.
The ABHA mobile application enables users to sync their health records created at the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) and view them on their smartphones.
The idea behind this government’s flagship program is to develop the backbone that is necessary to support the integrated digital health infrastructure of the country. It aims to bridge the existing gaps among different healthcare ecosystem stakeholders through digital highways.
The mobile application will self-upload the individual records, such as diagnostic reports, prescriptions, Cowin vaccination certificates, etc., after an individual’s consent through the ABDH network.
“The ABHA app will be instrumental in helping citizens to create their longitudinal health records. The patients can access their health records with the help of their ABHA address in seconds, which will empower them in many ways. It will enable them to save their health history on a single platform and access or share their health records anytime and anywhere without worrying about losing them. This digitisation of data exchange will ensure better clinical decision making and continuum of care,” says R.S. Sharma, CEO, National Health Authority (NHA).
The new version of the ABHA has new functionalities that will help citizens in many ways. The application can be logged in via face authentication/fingerprint and has the ability to scan QR code at the counter of the ABDM complaint facility for express registration. The ABHA mobile application can be downloaded from Google Play Store. Over four lakh applications have already downloaded since the launch, and the iOS version will be launched shortly, NHA says.
