A woman usually face changes in her body from time to time as the age goes on. The menstrual cycle is one of the changes that girls face around the age of 10 & upwards. Undoubtedly, the period of the menstrual cycle is the most irritating time for the woman. But at the same time, your menstrual cycle says a lot about your health. Having menstruation on a period of a month is a direct sign of your good health.
What is menstruation?
Menstruation is a woman’s monthly bleeding. At the time of menstruation, a woman’s body discards the monthly buildup of the lining of your uterus. Waste blood or tissues flow from the uterus through the small opening in woman’s cervix and pass out from their body through the vagina.

It is a monthly hormonal cycle to which a female body goes through. This cycle prepares a female for pregnancy. It is counted from the first day of the period up to the first day of your next date.

The period of the menstrual cycle is varied from woman to woman. The typical menstrual cycle is 28 days long but it might be different month to month. But no worries if you are not getting your periods in 28 days because your periods are regular if they are taking 28 days to 40 days.
At what age, a girl usually gets her period?
The right time to get the first period is between the ages of 8-14 but every girl has her own biological clock so it can vary to the girl to girl. Although, a lot of girls get their period at the age of 7 or sometimes they don’t get at 16 also. 1. The first and foremost symptom of the menstrual cycle is developing breasts of girls. Girl’s breast can take 3-4 years to get fully developed and a girl can expect her periods about two years after their breast start developing.
2. Once your breast starts growing, a girl will probably start growing their pubic hair. It will be soft and thin in starting but it will get coarser over time. It is the sign of arriving your periods within 1-2 years.
3. Before periods hit girls, there is one more thing that hit the girl around the age of 12 which is called vaginal discharge. A white or yellowish fluid is usually a positive sign that your first period is on its way.
When does the menstrual cycle stop?
Like, there is a specific time to get your periods similarly a women get it stops at the age of 45-55 which is called menopause. Menopause never comes suddenly. Most of the women have regular periods until perimenopause. It may take a few years for proper menopause. During this time, your periods may be misbalance. Proper menopause is considered when you have not had your periods for 12 months continuously.
What when a period is missed?
A missed period is one of the sign of pregnancy but it doesn’t always means that you are pregnant. What if you are not of that age and you haven’t had intercourse? Is that meaning also that you are pregnant? Not at all. Sometime you skip your periods for no reason, especially during the few years of starting your period. A lot of other things can also be the reason of mess with the timing of your menstrual cycle and that includes-
a) Hormonal changes
b) Sickness
c) Too much exercise
d) Taking certain medicines
e) Stress
f) Improper diet and poor nutrition
g) Sudden changes in weight
h) Using hormonal birth control, like patch, implant, ring, pill and hormonal IUD
i) Lastly, menopause
Other than pregnancy and menopause, missing your periods is not usual and a good thing. You might be suffering from some severe health issue which can lead to severe hassle for latter. So whenever you face any problem with your menstrual cycle, it is better to contact with your doctor.

As you know your periods will arrive at any time, it’s a great idea to be ready for all time. You should keep your period kit with you every time, which includes:
a) Your kit should contain a pantiliner, pad and an extra panty.
b) A toilet paper can also work as a pad in emergency until you get a pad.
c) Also keep a waste bag in your kit.
In case you get your periods in public area, out of your home and comfort, school etc., don’t shy to ask help to your friend, teacher or any woman around you. And if you are not ready with your kit then most of the schools, colleges and girls carries pad with them for exactly this reason. Nevertheless, if you are not finding any way, use multiple layers of toilet paper as pad until you get the resource.
