US May Need to Extend COVID-19 Social Distancing till 2020: Expert Says
The United States is probably in the worst phase of the novel coronavirus outbreak. With the hotspot of the pandemic in New York City, the country has crossed the count of 615,246 coronavirus positive cases as the US death toll has reached 28,400. While President Donald Trump has shot down any prospect for the countrywide lockdown on the states, the dark clouds of the threat of COVID-19 can be seen over the US.
It seems that the nation is less concerned about the citizens than the economy. Besides this, The President has announced complete lockdown in California, New York and now in Illinois as well, but the situation is getting worse by every minute. With rapidly increasing numbers of confirmed cases, the US may need to undergo social distancing during the outbreak until 2022.
The recent study found that over 2,200 people lost their lives in the United States in a single day on Tuesday, according to the Reuters, as the Trump Administration is still concerned about how to reopen its economy. The overall death toll for coronavirus in the US has reached 28,400 that is really a big concern for the government.
“Intermittent Distancing would be required in 2022 unless the country’s critical care capacity increases substantially or a treatment or a vaccine for coronavirus becomes available.” says a report released by the Harvard school of public health.
This is what researchers and their reports said, but what makes more sense is, the US should implement countrywide lockdown for a month as it would be more vulnerable in this critical situation where people are dying every day in thousands.
With several examples, including South Korea and Singapore, the team of researchers insisted on a note that a serious and strict distancing can only be effective to curb the effect of the virus. However, it could reduce the overheads from the healthcare systems and enable individual tracking and quarantine to be applicable across the United States.
There is something called “Apparent Elimination” in the report released by the Harvard School of Public Health. In which it stands for an emergency situation in the US and novel coronavirus surveillance needs to be maintained, as an extension in the implementation of social distancing could be as late as 2024.
Cutting off WHOs funding amid this critical situation when the whole world is fighting against the pandemic was unexpected as the country needs to be focused on the healthcare infrastructure indeed The Prime Minister has solely focused on the economy crash. Experts had offered such an approach because the Federal government only holds the authority to boost production and management.
With Dr. Fauci’s statement over the loophole in the US healthcare system “The US could have saved a life” with earlier actions, the World Health Organization joined this statement later and added, “the infection has certainly not yet packed”. There was a clear sign that the pandemic may flashback in the epicenter Wuhan, China in forthcoming days.
If The President still avoided the consequence of this medical negligence the loss of life would be higher than the economy, and it’s better than the Trump Administration implementing countrywide lockdown as soon as possible.
