Russia’s Breakthrough: Developed Own Cancer Vaccine
The Russian Health Ministry recently made a groundbreaking announcement for cancer patients. It has developed a cancer vaccine and will distribute it for free. The vaccine will be launched in the early 2025. Andrey Kaprin, the General Director of the Radiology Medical Research Centre of the Russian Health Ministry, confirmed this news.
Gamaleya National Research Centre director Alexander Gintsburg told TASS that the vaccine’s pre-clinical trial proved it is effective in suppressing tumour development and potential metastases. He also said that artificial neural networks could shorten the computing duration required to create a personalised cancer vaccine to an hour. Currently, computing takes a long time.
In early 2024, Vladimir Putin, the Russian President, shared that the country was creating cancer vaccines and immunomodulatory drugs.
It is yet to be unveiled which variants of cancer this vaccine is supposed to treat or what its name is. But, it’s a great achievement for Russia as Daily Mail UK shared that cancer rates are growing rapidly in the country. The news agency shared that over 6,35,000 cancer cases were reported in 2022, and colon, breast, and lung cancers are the most common variants.
Many other countries are indulging in similar projects. For instance, the British government has agreed to a contract with a Germany-based BioNTech company to make personalised cancer treatments.
