Microsoft, the largest American software maker, has introduced the Dragon Copilot AI voice assistant to revolutionise the healthcare industry. This innovative tool will reduce administrative burdens, streamline clinical workflows, and improve patient care with advanced voice detection and ambient listening capabilities.
Dragon Copilot utilises a combination of technologies developed by Dragon Medical One and DAX Copilot. This AI tool can automatically create clinical documents, perform medical information searches, and generate after-visit summaries, transforming the healthcare industry. It can also create notes in multiple languages, making it a useful tool for healthcare professionals.
Joe Petro, the Vice President of Microsoft for Health and Life Science Solutions, highlighted the impact of AI on healthcare. He stated, “At Microsoft, we have long believed that AI has the incredible potential to free clinicians from much of the administrative burden in healthcare and enable them to refocus on taking care of patients.”
Microsoft’s Dragon Copilot is developed on a secure, modern architecture and efficiently integrates with EHRs (Electronic Health Records), Epice and others. It brings together the dictation of notes, automation of tasks, and access to medical information from trusted sources like the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and FDA (Food and Drug Administration), giving clinicians a better experience.
This AI tool has already shown encouraging results, reducing clinical burnout and improving patient experience. Surveys of Microsoft revealed that during the trial period of the tool, 93% of patients reported a better experience. This AI tool will be available in the US and Canada in May and will be expanded to other countries like the UK, Netherlands, and France.
